Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I live with my mom, brother, and sister in our Whitby home. My mom and I have been best friends since my birth, and we love doing activities together (such as hiking, biking, shopping, etc). My younger brother and I have been buddies since we were younger as well. We love to joke around together and I enjoy when I can spend quality time with him as well. My older sister is my whole world. As a baby, she was diagnosed with multiple disabilities including: autism, global developmental delay, and epilepsy. Since I can remember, I have always been one of her caretakers. She always brings out the best in me and makes me incredibly proud to be her sister. No matter what, I will always support her and I know she has got my back for life.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation I will be heading to McMaster University to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences. After that, my hope is to pass my MCAT and pursue my dream of completing medical school. My dream job is a neurologist and I hope to complete my goals to help people like my sister live their best lives.
What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Pizzaco has THE BEST pizza. I also really love any Greek food.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would love to travel to Costa Rica right now. It is one of the most beautiful and environmentally friendly places on Earth. I went with my school board to travel for an environmental science credit and I would do anything to travel there again soon. If you want to see amazing wildlife (like sloths) and beautiful scenery, I 100% recommend Costa Rica.
What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My favourite movie is 10 Things I Hate About You (I LOVE HEATH LEDGER) and my favourite tv show right now is Ginny and Georgia
If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
My advice would be to believe in yourself and your dreams. As overused as the saying is, it is extremely important in life. Especially during these difficult times with the pandemic and online school, believing in yourself and staying motivated will help push you through. If you can survive a worldwide pandemic, you can do anything you put your mind to. Keep dreaming and keep reaching your goals. You are doing amazing!
If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
Stranger Things because it seems like such a fun cast and it is one of my favourite shows
If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
I would have lunch with all of my friends. Since the start of this pandemic, I have been missing them like crazy. I would love a chance to dine out with all of my friends and have a few laughs. I would have lunch at Jack Astors because I love their burgers and there are so many options to choose from for everyone.
What is your favorite thing about our community?
My favourite thing about my community is the inclusivity. Living with a sibling with special needs, it is important to me that there are resources for her. Our community has been nothing but helpful and I appreciate all that they do for special needs people.
Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
In 5 to 10 years I hope I will be pursuing my dream of going to medical school.
What is something on your bucket list?
I want to go to Australia and see some kangaroos!
What is your go to band / singer when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Queen. Their music has been my favourite forever!
Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
My favourite month is October (or anything in the fall season). I love all of the colours and the cool weather, it is perfect.
The best holiday in my opinion is Christmas because I love the feeling of baking cookies, opening presents, and spending quality time with my family.
The best day of the year is October 12. It is my birthday, so I am a little biased, but I love that day so much!
What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
I would rate McDonald’s coconut pineapple smoothie a 10/10. It tastes like a pina colada!
What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
TRAVEL! Literally anywhere.
Who inspires you to be better?
My sister. Seeing her push through her hardships with a huge smile on her face is so inspiring to me. I want to be even half as strong as her and I can learn so much from her and her personality!
