Lori Lopes

I’m a lifelong Durham region resident ( minus 1year when I lived in BC).  We lived in Williamsburg neighbourhood since 2008.  I am a registered nurse. So far I’ve had a great career since graduating. I have endured along with 1000’s of frontline healthcare workers the worst of the pandemic. I’ve experienced first hand the stress of loved one losing their job at start of covid, the effects on the kids mental health/ social development and education.  I see the toll it has had on businesses in our community and residents.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have an absolutely wonderful and talented husband. He’s hysterically funny and a gecko mom. He breeds Geckos. At times our house is a mini zoo with – geckos, hamsters, crabs, axolotl, dogs etc I have 2 amazingly wonderful kids, one in high school and one going into high school. I have 1 fur baby. When I married my husband, I won the in-law lottery. I can’t believe the amazing family he was raised in and grew up in. I have the best in-laws a person could wish for. The aunts, uncles and cousins are also part of the amazing blessing. Our family is very diverse.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’m currently an RN and I constantly upgrade my education and skills.
