Your Name
Monika Mostarac
What High School do you attend?
Donald A. Wilson SS
Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I live with my mom, dad, sister, and dog! We love to spend time outside and watch movies. My parents both immigrated to Toronto and went to the University of Toronto, inspiring me to do the same! I have family overseas in Sarajevo, Bosnia (dad’s side), and in Skopje, Macedonia (mom’s side), who have all been very supportive and helpful in my academic experiences and my life in general!
What are your plans after graduation?
After I graduate from Donald A. Wilson, I will be heading to the University of Toronto to begin a major in engineering. My first year will consist of a general engineering year, and from there I will decide on a specific field of study. I hope to make a difference and better the lives of those around me with the technology, information, and resources available at UofT. I am beyond excited to see what life outside of high school has in store for all the wonderful graduates of 2021.
What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Tuscan Wolf and KB Food! The staff are so kind and helpful! Both have absolutely delicious food!
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would want to travel to Europe, to Bosnia and Macedonia so that I could see my family. With the pandemic, I haven’t been able to travel and visit. I would really love to see and spend some time with them.
What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Hard to pick just one but I love Knives Out (movie), and Superstore (tv show).
If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
Senior Class: In a group of such talented individuals it is hard to give advice. I know that their biggest achievements are yet to come. The 2021 graduates are some of the most hardworking people I know. Though the last few years of our high school experience have been odd, I hope that you all recognize the impact you created at Wilson. Whatever next year will look like for you, please know that you are more than capable and more than talented.
Younger Students: I know this year must have been an anticlimactic transition into high school, but that does not take away from the important role you play in the school community. Join any clubs/sports teams that interest you. It doesn’t matter how qualified you think you are, or how unqualified for that matter. These activities exist because of you and for you! I hope that you enjoy these years and the people you meet. I know it is easier said than done but don’t stress too much, it’s not worth it. Do your best, that’s all that matters. “Your best” is allowed to change, some days it will seem harder, some days easier. Do what you can and don’t be afraid! I wish you all the best of luck!
If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
WandaVision! So that I could have powers!
If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
If I could choose anyone to have lunch with, dead or alive, it would be Nikola Tesla. When I was younger, my family would always tell me about him and his accomplishments, partly because he was from former Yugoslavia and partly because he truly was an amazing inventor. I would love to hear about his life, hear his new ideas, and see what technology he would want to change. I would meet with him at “Tuscan Wolf” in Downtown Whitby for some pizza! It would be an interesting conversation with delicious food!
What is your favorite thing about our community?
My favourite thing about our community is the people. From my best friends, to my neighbours, to strangers I pass by on walks. I’m grateful to have such a welcoming community.
Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

What is something on your bucket list?

What is your go to band / singer when you can’t decide what to listen to?

Favourite holiday is the winter/Christmas break!

Talking with your friends and remembering something from years ago that you all forgot about!
What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
Travel!
