Emalyn D’Aliesio
What High School do you attend?
Donald A. Wilson Secondary School
Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have my Mom, my Dad, my younger brother Nick and my dog Ozzy (lovingly known as “the barking cat”). We’re a close knit family who like to tease each other a lot! I’m lucky to have such a great relationship with people I’ve ended up spending over a year completely indoors with.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to pursue a bachelors in architectural design at Carleton University. If that continues to be a career path I’m interested in, I plan to get my masters so that I can be a licensed architect.
What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
12 Bistro and The Food + Art Cafe
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Probably Amsterdam, it’s always been a place I’ve wanted to visit, mainly because of how welcoming of an atmosphere it seems to have, and it’s rich history. I was also supposed to go there during a school trip before Covid, so I’m even more eager to visit now.
What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My favourite movies are Mama Mia 2 and Howl’s Moving Castle!
If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
Everyone’s just doing their best to survive in this world, so try to be kind to people. Remember that that includes yourself as well.
If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
Kikis Delivery Service
If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
I would want to have lunch with Artemesia Gentileschi, I did a project on her in grade 11 art history and she seemed like a fascinating woman trapped in a world not quite ready for women to have a place in it yet. Despite it all, she still made her mark on history. I’d probably have the lunch at the Food + Art Cafe to fit with the creative atmosphere.
What is your favorite thing about our community?
Our community is safe and welcoming towards everyone. I don’t usually feel unsafe walking through neighbourhoods at night because of it.
Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I hopefully have my own detached house, with a garden, a studio, and a variety of houseplants and pets. I don’t need too big of a house, I’d rather have enough money to try new things and travel a lot.
What is something on your bucket list?
I’d love to run my own side business one day and sell my art once I’m in a comfortable financial position.
What is your go to band / singer when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Mother Mother or Queen
